Do I need a requisition from my Doctor?

     YES. A requisition from your doctor is required before booking with MobiLabs.

How soon can I book your service?

     You can check our soonest available date through our booking system or by calling us.

​

*STAT/ASAP requests may be accommodated if our schedule allows us.

​

How do I prepare for blood collection?

     Most blood collection does not require fasting unless indicated by the physician. If fasting is indicated, clients are asked to NOT have any food or drink except water for 8-12 hours prior to blood collection. (No GUM, No Smoking, No Black Coffee/Tea)

Can I brush my teeth before blood collection?

     Yes, you can.

​

Can I take my medication before blood collection?

     Yes, unless the doctor advised you not to.

​

Who will get my laboratory results?

     All samples are tested by the provincial labs. Results will be sent to your requesting doctor or other doctors overseeing your care and your online portal.

​

How long will it take for my doctor to get the results?

     Routine laboratory test results will be available within 24hrs after collection. Special tests such as specimen culture of any kind and some blood tests will take longer.

​

Can someone without a provincial health card use your service?

     We won't be able to cater someone without a provincial health card.

​

Can you accommodate people living outside Winnipeg and Regina?

      Yes, a different rate will be applied. 

​

What are your modes of payment?

       We accept DEBIT, VISA and MASTERCARD. 

​

What if my sample got rejected by the lab?

      If the sample is rejected by the lab due to improper collection, MobiLabs will recollect your sample, free of charge.

  • Patient must provide a valid health card and one identification card with picture. (Driver's License, Passport, Provincial I.D.)

  • Patient must have a valid requisition from a doctor, complete with all the information needed including location/address of the requesting doctor.

  • Patient must follow the proper preparation requirement of the laboratory test/s ordered prior to collection. (Fasting, Time Sensitive Specimens)

  • Patient must provide a clean and safe area for specimen collection.

  • Children must have enough space from the area during collection to avoid unwanted accidents.

  • If the patients' pet is very active and might cause trouble during the appointment, we strongly suggest to keep them contained in a room during the entire process.

  • Patient must properly hydrate before the appointment, for easier blood draw and urine sample collection.

  • Patient must advise our lab professionals if they have any allergies to the supplies that we use. (cotton, alcohol, Band-Aid/tape, latex, etc.)

  • Patient must advise if they need to lie down for their blood draw.

  • Patient must inform our phlebotomist if we can't use a specific arm for medical reasons such as Mastectomy, Fistula, recent surgery, injury, etc.

  • A fee of $20 will be charged for cancellations less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment.

  • Appointments can be rescheduled free of charge.

**Please be advised that MobiLabs has the right to refuse or cancel the appointment if we find the conditions to be unsafe and/or if the area for blood draw is unsuitable.

Fasting Blood

*8-12hrs nothing but water (No GUM, No Smoking, No Black Coffee/Tea)

  • Glucose/ Sugar

  • Lipid Panel/ Cholesterol

  • Apolipoprotein A1

  • C1 Esterase Inhibitor

  • Iron Studies

  • Pro-Insulin

  • Transferrin

*Note that most of these tests can still be done without prior fasting unless indicated by the physician.

Morning Collection

Post Phlebotomy Care

​

Minor bruising, tingling and painful swelling might occur after blood draw. To avoid these to happen patient must:

​

  • Put pressure to the puncture site after the needle is out for at least 2 minutes. 

​

  • Leave the bandage for 10-15 minutes after collection.

​

  • Apply cold pressure using ice pack wrapped in  a clean cloth for 20 minutes in case of tingling and swelling.

​
